OzoneUpdated 6 months ago

Ozone is an isotope of oxygen; in other words, it is oxygen in a different form. Breathing in ozone can be dangerous, as can breathing in a substance that isn't oxygen. Breathing in excess of any gas that isn't oxygen can cause respiratory problems. Ozone surrounds us every day. It is emitted by cars, power plants, industrial boilers, and even chemical plants.

Ozone and AirSoap

Every AirSoap comes with an Activated Charcoal filter that can break down the ozone to less than 0.01 ppm (parts per million). The FDA considers anything less than 0.05 ppm safe for human inhalation, making the AirSoap a very lung-healthy air purifier.

Ozone and PhoneSoap

All of our units use UV-C light technology, which produces a minor amount of ozone. The ozone within the chamber remains below .05 ppm at all times, which is well below the short-term exposure OSHA standard of 0.3 ppm.

It is not uncommon to notice an "ozone" scent after using one of our devices. This is an assurance that the light technology is working as it is intended to. It can be described as a similar smell to a doctor's office. No worries; that is just the smell of the germs being killed! It does not last long; it will dissipate after about 15 minutes or so.

All in all, you inhale more ozone in a thunderstorm than when using a PhoneSoap product.
